I stayed up all night to sort that out! I haven't slept in more than 36 hours, but I finally prevailed... ish.
I wanted it to have:
Windows 98SE, a working CD-ROM drive and Microsoft Word 97 on it.
Instead I had to make do with:
Windows 95, Wordpad.
That machine was such an arse to configure I just gave up in the end! But really, she doesn't need anymore than that to do her work, she said so herself.
Here's some pictures to enlighten you...
(Click them for a closer look)
...Before...
That's the machine under construction. You can see my 52x CD-ROM, the laptop hard drive (I only formatted 1.9Gb of it cos I didn't really need the whole lot just yet), and the floppy drive at the back, sat on the power supply. There's a couple of sets of DDR RAM still in there at the bottom of the case unused. I didn't use 'em because this motherboard IIRC runs on EDO RAM and would throw a hissy fit if I put in the DDR RAM as well. On the left, there's the sound card (Not necessary cos I'm not including speakers in the "package deal"
There's also two more HDDs there (1Gb and 4Gb) but they're off-picture.
...After...
Here's the finished product! Included in the shot are the keyboard, mouse and monitor that're gonna be used. Now it's ready to be taken over to Helens... As soon as Paul decides to show his face.

I've decided to get shot of Winamp 3 on the main pooter here and put v2.81 back on. I'm just more accustomed to this version, and plus it allows me to have the script in the top-left corner showing what I'm currently listening to. I'd like to improve it so that it'll say that I ain't got Winamp on or something...

Whey-hey! I finally completed it the other day! There was quite a twist in the plot at the end that I wasn't expecting. I won't give anything away... or maybe I already did by saying all of that. Oh well, no harm, no foul!

After many hours of fiddling with setting in Mandrake Linux, logging on/off root, untar-ing soo many files and drinking many a cup-o-coffee, I've finally got BToolkit working on the Linux machine downstairs.
Now I can do my assignment work.

andrew-irvine.co.uk will be 2 years old tomorrow. Not really a cause for celebration, but I'm sure it's a good enough reason to get pissed!

I was at John's funeral this morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning, warm too. I'm just glad I got to pay my last respects to John before his burial in Guisborough. Now it'll be a while until I can put this behind me. It'll be difficult.
May he rest in peace.

He was a good friend and I, as many others, will miss him a great deal.
